Playa la Bonanza is a beautiful two mile long beach on the eastern side of Isla Espiritu Santo. We had our full “beach party” set up, complete with tables and chairs, blankets, towels, and coolers full of refreshments. Guests were out hiking, lounging on the beach, or in the water snorkeling. Mark and I were leading the snorkeling group. We were strung out along the rocky reef at the north end of the beach. Caballito del Pacifico is an occasional visitor to the Gulf of California. An occasional visitor that is rarely seen, and for me, never seen at all. I have always wanted to view a seahorse, and this week I finally got that opportunity off the beach at Playa la Bonanza.
I’m not a sunrise guy - never have been. It’s not that I don’t appreciate the beauty and symbolism of a sunrise. As a matter of fact, the idea of celebrating each new day as a new beginning that comes with its own changing colors and light show appeals to my very core.
